Ok so your not always going to get the most ideal situations for snowboarding, your going to come up against a variety of conditions each time you go out, some that are more favourable than others so does it matter? how can you make sure you dont make an ass of yourself or get hurt
Here are we go.
Ice - When handling icy days be sure to have nice sharp edges on your board that really helps you dig in. Make sure you stick to where loose snow is and where it gets pushed. You can find it easier to get an edge and preven a skid if you see the ice ahead, check out your speed and if you see ice head make sure to slow down. Stay flat based and pointed straight down the hill dont try to turn until your off the ice
Hardpack - This is more common, usually its from lack of fresh snow. To make sure you get the most of out it mae sure the edges are sharp and head for south facing slopes where the sun will have softened the snow. When you make your turns lean out as far as you dare to exert as much pressure as possible. Force your edges to bit.
Coredurdy - The staple for many boards everyone likes ripping on freshly groomed corduroy, the grooves create surface that allows you to hold an edge with little fear of skidding.
Moguls - If you try to ride peak to trough you’ll soon pick up speed and start catching air off the tops, which will quickly deposit you on your butt . The key to getting down a mogul field with some pride is to ride the sides of the moguls tak e a line through them rather than over them this way you can keep your stick under central
Chopped up powder - choppy power can be deceiving it looks fun but constantlyhaving to adjust your riding position to comepnsate for the uneven terrain can burn your legs out pretty quickly keep you knees bent and be prepared for changes in the texture. Stay low, its also about now that the park is shaping up nicely so quit mourning over missed face shots and make it up to yourself on a perfectly formed table top.
Flat Light - Its not so much a condition but its when the clouds come down low so that you cant see what is the sky and what is the slope. If vision gets this way dont be a hero just follow the poles down
